Tomoyuki Nakamura is a graduate of the Tokyo University College of Horticulture who did his post-graduate training in the Imperial Palace Gardens in Tokyo, where he subsequently worked for 10 years as a Japanese black pine specialist. He is also becoming better known as a garden designer specializing in Tsubo Niwa, gardens designs for very small spaces (1 tsubo = approx. 35 square feet), and has just completed the design and installation of a large garden in Tokyo.
Nakamura San’s experience has breathed new life into Suiho En, and his mastery of pruning and shaping black pines in the traditional manner, is rapidly creating a legacy we shall all enjoy as time and the seasons pass in our garden.
