Miyagi Nosho Sensei, and her dancers and musicians, have delighted audiences at the Japanese Garden for several years now. A virtuoso sanshin (three stringed Okinawan lute) player, she had brought the music and dance of her homeland to audiences the length and breadth of America.
Miyagi Sensei’s enormous repertoire encompasses everything from the formal court dances of the 16th century, to the joyful folk music of village people that have thrilled her live audiences so often at our garden in the past. With more than 50 years experience as a professional dancer, musician, and instructor, Miyagi Sensei brings a cultural presence to our garden, the value of which is incalculable.
